Here are a few scenes from my daily life here in Copenhagen. The first two are my room... it is great, a really nice size compared to a college dorm and lots of daylight coming in the windows (while we still have it, that may end soon). Then is the family dog of my hosts. his name is Sigurd and then the cat who he loves to tackle is emil and is very furry! Last was a picture of a nice sunny sky ( an exciting thing in this cloudy place) that I saw as I took the three minute trip from the train station to the house at the end of the day. This was taken at the end of the street where the Andersens live.

I am hoping to put up a slide show of more of my pictures so there is more to come!

funny things

It has just taken me 5 minutes to make this new post because when I went to the page some of the words were in Danish! This happens on lots of websites like google or other big names they take you automatically to the danish translated site. It can make like rather difficult. I am just about to start my homework :0 that is due in my first classes tomorrow but thought I would put up a few funny things I have seen and herd. One is from my host family, they are very nice and I am having a nice time living with them, we spend lots of time talking about the things in America compared to here its pretty entertaining, especially to them if I try and say any danish words because the letters are all pronounced different. My funny/ cute story is on the first night at dinner my host mother asked me what do Americans say to start the meal. I could not and still can not think of anything that is really said that is not grace or something in another language like "Bon Appetite" but I told her maybe the closest thing would be "lets eat" so now every night we sit down and she says "lets eat" with a smile...
My other anecdote is as I mentioned the weather is very fickle and it rains often so I was looking on the UK amazon site for some rainboot and found these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chocolate-Scented-Gumbies-Wellies-Wellington/dp/B0035G3IH8/ref=sr_1_96?ie=UTF8&s=shoes&qid=1282754721&sr=1-96 They are no reflection of what danish or european people wear but I thought it was funny!

This week started with me completely overwhelmed. That feeling is starting to wear off. There are still many many things I am unsure of like will I survive 830 classes almost every morning who of these new people i have met will become friend and many more but at least I have basics. I am getting more comfortable in my host families home and my room is a very nice space of my own(picture to be posted soon) I have made a successful days commute on the train alone and and feeling good walking the streets after two strait days of scavenger hunts! The last two days have been lots of introductory stuff and tomorrow will as well, then Thursday will be the first day of class. My brain power feels like it may only be at 60% so I better get out of summer mode pronto! The most striking thing about the says has been the weather ( that's makes it sound like it's been boring but walking around in fickle weather is strange) it can be dark and cloudy, raining lightly, cloudy, heavy rain, then sun all within 15 minutes. Just standing outside where the queen lives today listening to a bit about the palace for 5 minutes it's was cloudy then rainy then hard rain then the clouds move out to reveal the sun! Despite being rained on several times my day ended on a high note with a beautiful " toy story sky" with nice white clouds and a bright sun.

Ready? Set? GO!

Here I am in Copenhagen! I arrived last friday and then left to visit the two largest cities in Sweden, Stockholm and Goteborg.I had fun time exploring, attempting to navigate, seeing the sights and searching for food in those cities. Now I am back in Copenhagen and today moved into the bedroom I will be living in for the next four months with my Danish host family. I am excited and a bit overwhelmed to start this journey but here I go....
